About My Weather Station

Observations are powered by a WeatherFlow Tempest

Welcome to Destinwx.com!

This website is updated every 5 minutes with weather observations from my Tempest weather station and a Raspberry Pi running Weewx weather software!

The Tempest Weather System integrates with smart home assistants like Amazon Alexa. It can trigger our outdoor lights based on the actual brightness of the sky. Enable our thermostat to use the weather conditions outside our home to conserve heating and cooling use. I personally like to be able to automate my sprinklers to operate based on rainfall. For instance, if it rains, or is expected to rain over .25”, the Tempest will communicate with my Rachio controller and suspend watering for that day, which in turn, saves electricity. More importantly, Tempest will send us text alerts when lightning is approaching.

The Tempest app utilizes real-time observed weather data from your backyard and AI based Nearcast Technology to dramatically improve forecast accuracy where it matters most – our home. The guaranteed better forecast creates the ultimate tool for managing our smart home, garden and all of our weather-driven decisions.

The Tempest weather station provides the following readings:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction
  • Rainfall
  • Lightning Strikes
  • UV
  • Illuminance
  • Solar radiation
  • Barometric Pressure

The rest of the observations on this website are done via software calculations and quality control checks to make sure the data is valid.

Every weather observation is also posted to the following websites:
